Route description
Starting in the idyllic village of St. Valentin, you can either set off on foot or comfortably take the gondola lift to the Haideralm. From there, an easy and carefree high trail (trail number 14) unfolds, which is ideal for a family hike and leads to the Schöneben mountain station. The trail is characterized by gently ascending paths up to the tree line, where hikers are rewarded with breathtaking views of the green-blue Lake Reschen and the surrounding mountain scenery. The journey begins with the massive Ortler massif behind you and reveals views of the Langtaufer Valley with the glacier landscape of the Weißkugel. The entire trail is easy to follow, making it a perfect adventure for the whole family. Once you have arrived at the Schöneben mountain station, you can refresh yourself and continue downhill along the piste on trail no. 9B to the turn-off to the left on the Gadrsch forest road (trail no. 6) until you cross the Rojenstraße road and the Rojenbach stream over the bridge. Here the trail continues into the valley, past the lonely pilgrimage church in Vallierteck and the Stations of the Cross to the old village of Reschen. Continue in the direction of the lake promenade to the starting point in the west and enjoy the fantastic view of Lake Reschen. Then head towards the main road, past the Carabinieri station on the left and follow trail no. 2A to the source of the Adige river, which is the end of the stage. If you want to end the stage here, you can return to the main road via path no. 2A and take the public bus line 273 at the Reschen, Nord stop back to the starting point.
