The Markets in the Upper Venosta Valley
Discoveries and samples: experience the markets of the Venosta Valley in South Tyrol
Traditional farmer's markets, weekly and annual markets have been held without interruption for many centuries in the Venosta Valley. Natural groceries and traditional specialties – these are the products you will find in South Tyrolean markets. From old-style marmalade and organic bread, traditional smoked ham, sausages, pasture cheese and herbal teas to fresh asparagus or organic farm-grown eggs.
The large-scale, traditional markets and fairs have, since the time of Claudia de Medici, taken place on recurring days of the year, and also represent social events for the entire valley. Among these are the Georgi Market in Malles/Mals, which is the most famous plant and flower market.
